Michael Ballato, Attorney

Background and Experience

A native of Culpeper, Virginia, Mike has over thirty years legal and extensive courtroom experience in Central Virginia, including the cities of Richmond, Petersburg, and Fredericksburg, and Colonial Heights, and the counties of Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover, Powhatan, Goochland, and New Kent.

A graduate from the University of Virginia in 1977 and the T. C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond in 1980, Mike has practiced in the Richmond metropolitan area since 1980.

He has been widely recognized by clients, peers in the legal field, and local organizations for his professional and personal contributions to the community.

Mike is active as a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Glen Allen, Virginia, where he also serves as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 736. He is active in both bar and community activities throughout the Richmond metropolitan area.

Frank J. DeGaetani, Jr., Attorney

Background and Experience

Frank brings over 30 years of legal and business experience to the Ballato Law Firm. As a former partner in the law firm of Berkeley & DeGaetani his practice was primarily in the area of creditors' rights/collections and residential and commercial real estate.

He currently serves as Special Counsel to the Office of the Attorney General for Debt Collection and is  certified as guardian ad litem for incapacitated persons. Frank has also served as trial counsel for the Virginia Commonwealth University Collection Unit.

A graduate of the University of Richmond in Business Administration and the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond, Frank has practiced in the Richmond metropolitan area since 1983, and was a Deputy Clerk in the City of Richmond General District Court, Civil Division, from 1972 to 1980 prior to attending law school.

James W. Curry, Attorney

Background and Experience

James (Jamie) Curry has twenty years legal experience and was formerly a partner with Berkeley, Curry & Cook. Jamie has extensive experience in the areas of collections, creditors’ rights, civil litigation and criminal/traffic defense.

Born in Richmond, Virginia, Jamie attended The Collegiate Schools, earned his B.A. degree from Hampden-Sydney College (1986) and graduated from the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University (1995) where he was a member of the Law Review.

Jamie is active as a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Richmond, Virginia. He is active in both bar and community activities throughout the Richmond area.
